It’s storytelling that reminds us of who we are and why our work really matters.

I specialize in designing customized professional learning experiences for K-16 educators, focusing on multiliteracy instruction, curriculum and assessment design, and standards-based grading. With over two decades of experience across 100+ international systems, I bring a collaborative, research-based approach to every partnership. Your story matters. Let's talk about transforming teaching and learning in that context.

Hi there. I'm Angela Stockman.

I became a teacher because I had good teachers, and children are some of the best.

I began my career in the classroom and spent some time as a regional literacy specialist before becoming an independent professional learning facilitator in 2008. Over the last two decades, I’ve lead complex system-wide curriculum and assessment design initiatives, the shift to standards based grading and reporting, sustained lesson studies, and the practice of pedagogical documentation in schools and universities within and beyond the United States. As a dedicated action researcher whose interests lie at the intersection of purposeful play, collaborative inquiry, multimodal expression, and culturally sustaining practices, each of my books is a chapter in a great learning story that continues to compel me.

Thanks for visiting. I’m glad that you’re here, and I hope that you’ll come find me on Bluesky, LinkedIn, or Instagram.

I'd love to hear your story.

Angela is extremely knowledgeable, and she somehow managed to present information to teachers with a wide range of experiences and comfort levels. I learned so much that I cannot wait to implement in my classroom. But, most importantly, I feel so much more comfortable heavy work that I have been trying to avoid.

Thank you again for truly worthwhile professional learning experience. This will not only help me as a teacher, it will positively impact my classroom practice and student learning. The quality and volume of resources you've shared is just breathtaking. Thank you for remaining connected to us through your newsletter and online, too.

Angela was absolutely fantastic! She tailored the content to focus on the needs and interests of the participants. Angela was extremely knowledgeable and provided lots of great information, including additional guidance as needed. We had a great mix of time to discuss with others, explore tools independently, and respond in the chat.

"We go down too many rabbit holes when discussing assessment, tests, data, and evidence.  Angela Stockman provides a powerful perspective focusing on interpreting the myriad of information that teachers, leaders and students encounter in every lesson..."

Professor John Hattie, University of Melbourne, Australia

A global authority on education effectiveness, his extensive research is the world’s largest evidence base on what works best in schools to improve learning.

Dr. John Hattie, University of Melbourne, Australia

There was so much information today that I can take back to my classroom and use. There were also a lot of new ideas around the ethical use of AI that allowed me to think about and considered my own thoughts about AI usage. Angela was kind and helpful the whole day. The chances to go into breakout rooms and discuss also helped to break the day up and give me time to process all the information that was presented. I am leaving today with a plethora of ideas and information.

Angela remains honest, polite, and professional with the toughest crowds of all. She inspires teachers to question their current practices and to think hard about who they are, what they do, and why they do it. She isn’t afraid to prompt the difficult conversations that we need to be having. It is always a pleasure to be able to sit in on her sessions. She makes wonderful connections between current research, a wide variety of best practices, and what evidence shows our kids need more support with.

Angela is one of the most generous and inspiring educational leaders that I have had the privilege of working with. Angela motivates educators by teaching them how to make writing and literacy learning accessible for all learners. She has a deep and thorough understanding of literacy and how students learn. Angela is more than willing to go above and beyond with teams that she supports through electronic sharing on social media platforms and beyond.

Angela Stockman worked with our elementary and middle school leadership to provide OUTSTANDING staff development in the area of ELA by using data to support instruction. I was truly impressed by her organization, dedication to our teachers, and pleasant disposition in dealing with traditional professional development obstacles and challenges. Our faculty and administrators were equally impressed.

Dr. Karen Karmazin, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Grand Island Central School District

I appreciated the relevant content, Angela’s accessibility and flexibility, the ease of use (platform), and the conversations it has sparked within my district.
